High Coast Winter Trail 2/3
A story about a trail running journey on the Swedish High Coast; the race, the adventure and the preparations...
Part 2 - warming up to the cold
“On the High Coast Winter Trail website I see pictures of fluffy deep snow, blue skies, and runners flying down the mountains. Even though the website in only in Swedish, knowing the gorgeous area and loving the trails, I immediately get excited and sign up for the Insane 50k. The other options are the Classic 25k and Extreme 30K .”

Part 3 - Race day
“The trail starts uphill, an icy uphill this time which made for some great funny sights. I saw this guy running on the spot, while slowly starting to slide backwards. I passed him and thought to myself; this guy is not going to make it. I was convinced he would give up. When, after the race, he came up to me and ask if I saw him slide, I mentioned I saw him and had told everyone about him, not knowing who 'he' was. He was amused by the whole thing himself and then subtly mentioned he had finished the 50k race.”
Paris Marathon ‘19
Marathon running is gaining popularity. Every year more runners, and non runners, are signing up to run this majestic distance. The more people achieve this challenge, the more attainable it seems to become. And the more people believe that running a marathon can be done with little to non training… And I contribute to that believe, by running my last marathon seemingly untrained.
Coast to Coast, ultra run
The journey of 7 women from 7 countries completing an incredible coast to coast adventure. Crossing from Dubai to the Oman Coast in just four days, the runners completed an exhausting 180km – the equivalent of running four marathons in four days. Battling bustling cities, dangerous mountains and intense desert heat.
“The number of impressions and emotions exceed the four days we have had. More than your regular four days anyway.”
From zero to ultra within a year
Nine months I hadn’t been able to run. June 30 2017 I broke my ankle and tore my ligaments, which put me in a wheelchair and on crutches for about half a year.
March 2018 I was finally able to start running again. Normally I wouldn’t bother lacing up for just a few kilometers. Now I am happy with whatever I am allowed to do. Five times one minute of running it is.
